02The ground

Ground thathas never beenmeasured.

Setting out is the first physical act of construction — the moment a drawing stops being paper and becomes marks on the earth. Pegs, string lines, a datum. Before it there is an idea; after it there is a building.

Measured before construction

Confirmed from the drawing

03Setting out

Lines
on the ground.

Five marks, in the order a real gang would peg them.

Set out

String lines from the datum peg. Every corner squared before a spade touches the ground.

Dimension

Diagonals checked at 21.095 m. If the diagonals disagree, the building disagrees with the drawing for the rest of its life.

Peg

Six corners and a datum. The drawing now exists on the earth.

Excavate

Trenches to firm ground. Spoil to the high side, clear of the next trade.

Slab

150 mm C25/30 on 250 micron DPM, mesh A193 top. The first thing here that will still be here in fifty years.

Same datum · same geometryThe line
starts to rise.

04Rise

Substructure
first.

Then
the frame.

Walls
follow.

The envelope
closes.

The drawing
disappears.

The building begins below sight: datum, excavation, footing and slab.

Columns rise from the grid. The ring beam closes the structural frame.

Masonry follows the same lines that were pegged into the ground.

Openings, glazing and roof complete the weather-tight envelope.

Then the drawing disappears. The completed work takes its place.

01050 / 14 wall runs

The work remains.

The drawing has done its job. What is left is the building: occupied, useful and ready to be handed over.

06Capabilities

Four disciplines,
one contractor.

The four disciplines, shown in the order a project meets them.

Building construction
01

Building construction

From setting out and substructure through envelope, finishes and handover.

Civil works
02

Civil works

Ground, access, drainage, hardstanding and the work every structure depends on.

Electrical works
03

Electrical works

Containment, distribution, lighting, power and coordinated first fix.

Renovations & maintenance
04

Renovations & maintenance

Existing spaces measured honestly, rebuilt carefully and returned to use.

07Proof

What the work
already proves.

No speculative totals and no invented project claims. Four promises the finished portfolio has to keep.

  1. 01 / 04

    Disciplines under one name

Building construction, renovations, electrical works and civil works.

  2. 02 / 04

    Accountable contractor

One coordinated path from the first line on the ground to final handover.

  3. 03 / 04

    Ground to completion

Measurement, construction, finishes and a building ready for use — one process.

  4. 04 / 04

    Rooted close to the work

Grounded in a Zimbabwean material and landscape context.

08Handover

Build it
once.

Bring the site, the drawing or the problem. Upgrade Projects will take it from the first line to a completed handover.
